I had to laugh; we just received the attached email:
Dear residents,
The Chinese New Year (Feb. 6th is Chinese new year eve) is coming and some of you would like to set off some fireworks and firecrackers to celebrate the Chinese New Year. To make it possible and at the same time to ensure it is safe, we have set up 2 designated areas:
- in front of the old Clubhouse in phase 1,
- west at the north of West Gate,
We will post signs in the designated areas, and our security guards will be there with fire extinguishers during the Chinese New Year Holidays.
Thank you for your cooperation, and Happy Chinese Year!
Kind regards,
Customer Services Manager,The Emerald
In the US fireworks are in most cases illegal and where they do set them off, they have firemen nearby. But in China, they just arm the security guards with fire extinguishers!
I forgot to mention that the middle schoolers at SCIS set off fireworks during a condoned activity on Friday.
We’re going to a New Years’ party!!!
